Chiho Aoshima

Chiho Aoshima (b. 1974, Tokyo) creates luminous, dreamlike worlds in which Japanese folklore, ghosts, and nature spirits drift through sprawling landscapes — serene and apocalyptic at once. A core member of Takashi Murakami's Kaikai Kiki collective, Aoshima is largely self-taught, having come to art through digital illustration software rather than the academy, a path that shaped her seamless, hyper-detailed style. Her monumental digital prints and animations have been shown internationally, including her celebrated urban mural projects, and her work City Glow — an edition of which is offered by this gallery — remains one of the defining images of the Kaikai Kiki generation.
